Rebuild Your Life

rebuild your lifeYou may not have know this, but June was “Rebuild Your Life” month.

How do you know if it is time to rebuild your life?

Here are some clues:

  •  You dread Mondays, live for the weekends or don’t want to get up in the morning.
  •  You feel unfulfilled, stuck or bored with your life.
  •   Sometimes you may suffer from headaches, backaches, stomach aches or sadness (maybe even     depression).
  • You are just not having fun anymore.  It’s as simple as that.

How do you get started?

Here are 10 ways to get started:

  1. Identify what brings you joy or happiness and schedule it on your calendar.  This could be spending more time with family, riding your bike, taking a class or sitting and doing absolutely nothing.
  2. Open up your “dream box.”  Dream, Imagine, Create.  Sit back, close your eyes and dream.  In fact, sit and write out your “Ideal Day.”  Make it up and see it as you would like it to be.
  3. Get clear on your priorities. Know what you want in your life.  Make sure you are spending time on what you want to do, not just what you “should” do.
  4. Take ONE action step (little or big) to explore what might be of interest to you.
  5. Interview someone who is doing something that looks interesting to you.
  6. Sign up for a class or read a book on a subject you like.
  7. Start leaving work or stop working at 5 o’clock so that you can have some more free time for yourself.  Even if you did this two days a week, it could create two-four hours a week just for you.
  8. Identify ONE thing you have been wanting to do for a long time and JUST DO IT!
  9. Set boundaries with people.  Schedule some time for yourself and don’t let anyone take this time away from you.  Say NO to others and say YES to yourself.  Protect this scheduled time for yourself and don’t let anyone take it away from you.
  10. Walk through fears.  Know and believe it is possible to rebuild your life.  Each step you take will give you more hope and confidence to keep taking steps.

    Really fantastic article!
I am doing most of these tips on a daily basis and I’ve find that they’ve really helped me learn about more about myself.
